In my first year of studying business administration at Hamburg University, our professor told us in our introductory session: “The first thing you will learn here is a new language: The language of business and economics.” This is an insight that applies to almost any specialty. Every discipline has a language of its own, reflected in its specific terminology, customs and requirements towards written communication. That is why I concentrate on translations in these areas:

Larger projects or recurrent translation jobs benefit particularly from the use of widespread CAT tools (Computer-Assisted Translation tools). They increase the consistency of the terminology and facilitate quality management. I use the following tools in my everyday work:
